Background: we are not using a VPN, nor are we using SmartCards however, recently, I started getting this balloon popup from the system tray with the following message: I found a solution-at least in our scenario. The following applies for Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (as tested possibly others, but don't know):
