When he returned the fighting was still happening and he saw the Nords, a group he already didn't like, having attacked his college and killed many mages. The archmage however was away while this attack occurred.
The Nords one day organized a attack on the College of Winterhold breaking in and killing many of the mages inside. Under his rule the Nords got even more uneasy by him letting mages practice magic more freely in the college believing it a better route then just books. The archmage of the College of Winterhold is a Dragonborn. Here the Stormcloaks have beaten the Imperials in the Civil war (because Stormcloaks > Imperials ). There are multiple dragonborns allowed here but to be one you need to give me a good reason to let you roleplay one, meaning a good story behind it. This is set after the in game events of the game Skyrim.
